Over the hill?!

My baby is 5! Coleman has been waiting for this day for a long time! We have talked about the "magical" age of 5 many times..."when you're 5 you get to go to kindergarten"...etc. It has always seemed so far away ~ until today! It's here and my baby is 5!

If you're wondering about the title of the post...

Coleman and I spent the whole day together. We were dressed and out the door by 9:30 and we were headed shopping. Coleman needed a new pair of shoes and some new jeans. We went to 3 different stores and - NOTHING! No shoes that were "cool" enough and no pants that I would pay money for. We had 2 stops left - The Mall and then to Walmart to choose the ice cream for the celebration. We found the "coolest" shoes and we found the new pants and on the way to Walmart, I realized that I forgot to pick up birthday balloons. No fear - Walmart has everything! So we walk to the back of the store and stapled to the wall are the many different mylar designs to choose from. My eyes immediately go to the "boyish" birthday ones - Coleman, however, sees differently...

Me: "Hey bud, do you see one you like?"

Coleman: "Yeah - I want the one that says H - I - L - L."

Me: "Which one...I don't see one that says that"

Coleman: "Mom it's the black one, right there"

I look up and realize he wants the balloon that says "Over the Hill"! I tried to explain what that meant I'm not sure he fully understood, but I persuaded him to change his mind and we bought the balloon with the sports balls on it. He chose a few other colored balloons to go with it and we were on our way!

All in all, it was a fun day - and the celebration continues tonight - the family is going to go miniature golfing and then to the BYU creamery for ice cream! Happy Birthday Coleman...we love you!
