Quick trip to D.C.

Last week, my friend Amy asked me if I wanted to go to Washington D.C with her - I said "yes" instantly because I have never been there and I needed a break SO BAD! What I didn't know is that it would be a quick trip...and I mean quick! We flew out on the red-eye Wednesday night and got to D.C. early Thursday morning.
Amy's husband, Vaughn, was our pilot for one leg of the trip
We rented our car and we were ON OUR WAY! I had to have this cute man help me parallel park my car - I'm such a spaz - I CAN'T parallel park - something I will have to practice before I go again!
It was SO beautiful! We saw so many beautiful buildings, memorials and monuments!
We also saw the White House
And even went to the health care rally on Capitol Hill
I think that my FAVORITE place was the Lincoln Memorial - I loved being there. I felt such reverence and peace when I was standing there. What a great man!
So - we walked around for about 5 hours, saw what we wanted to see and then it was time to head to our hotel - we were BEAT! On our way, I got to experience another "first" - paying a toll on a freeway! I've never done that before, so I grabbed my camera and took a picture of me putting in my .75 cents!

Amy and I both went to bed at about 8:00 p.m. and we didn't budge until 7:00 am Friday morning! That might have been the best part of the whole trip! :)

We had a great time - and I would go again in a heartbeat! I've already started making a list of the things I want to do next time! Thanks Amy & Vaughn!
