is how Lexi started our conversation when asked how school was yesterday. I instantly began to think of all of the many ways she could get into trouble - this is Lexi we're talking about! She proceeded to tell me about P.E. where she decided that it would be a good idea to put her jump rope down the water drain outside. As soon as she did it, she realized there was no getting it back and had to go tell the teacher. The teacher thanked her for being honest...then sent her straight to the principals office! Now, we have a GREAT principal - he's one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. This visit was no exception. He listened to Lexi explain what had happened and asked her what she thought would be a good punishment.
Her answer:

Pick up trash from the school yard during her recess time...enough trash to "pay back" the cost of the jump rope. So at recess, there was a big, black garbage sack waiting for her in her cubby. I don't think it really hit her until she realized that she would be doing this ALL WEEK! She is a little distraught today, but hopefully, this one experience will teach her to never put her jump rope down the water drain again!! I wonder what lesson we will learn next??

Seriously? A FULL week of trash pick-up?!? How much does a Jump Rope cost? Tell Lexi I will take her to the Dollar Store tomorrow!
I think it's funny that she gave herself that punishment. The principal probably would have given her a much smaller and easier thing to do. We punish ourselves way more than others do. Good job Lexi on the lesson learned.
You gotta love conversations that begin that way! Good job on telling the truth, Lex!
It's hard to be mad at them when they tell the truth! CUTE
I love that she went and told her teacher, that is a good punishment what a good principal
