Fete Day "Blues"

We did it! We had a Fete Day party and it turned out fa"blue"lous! For those of you that don't know about Fete Day, here is a complete explanation:
Fete Day is a made up holiday that our family "adopted" from one of my sister's friends. Fete (pronounced fet) means festival, party, celebration, etc..and it was invented because of a lack of things to celebrate in August. The official day to celebrate is Aug. 16th, but because it is made up, you can be flexible and celebrate whenever it works for you.
There is always a color associated with Fete Day and pretty much everything revolves around the chosen color. I was the hostess, so I chose the color this year. As you can tell by the post title and the following pictures, the color I chose was blue. Everyone brings a small blue gift ($3.00 or less) wrapped in blue. (or whatever color is chosen) We divvied up our gifts "white elephant" style.
There should always be some sort of activity and this can be anything that sounds fun. I chose to do a "photo scavenger hunt" with 10 different things to photograph. Everyone brought their camera's back to our house and we downloaded all of the pictures to my brother-in-law's laptop and then watched them.
The traditional food of Fete Day is ice cream cake so I had Macey's make 2 different kinds and ice them both blue, of course! They were delicious!
We invited 6 families and had about 40 people at the party. It was a fun night and we look forward to celebrating again next year!

Here is the group picture...it turned out alright considering it was dark and the only light was from Deanne's car headlights.

As you can see, fun was had by all! We will do this again next year FOR SURE!

Holy Cow - the party looks amazing! What a fun night. Wish we would have been there, our celebration paled in comparison.
