A couple of months ago, our renters called and said they came home to find the water heater spraying water all over - it had been spraying for some time because all of the hard wood floors in the kitchen were warped and the paint was peeling off of the wall. We had the disaster specialists come and pull up all of the carpet and rip out the wood floor - renters moved out while repairs were being made - we had a new water heater installed and new flooring put it. PAIN!
Fast forward to last night:
We are home watching "America's got Talent" after I have literally been RUNNING all day! I had been to work, picked kids up from school, drove to No. Orem to take Ry to clogging, drove back home to take Kam to choir, drove Lexi to the neighbors so they could take her to soccer, picked up Ry in Orem, picked up Kam and then headed to Lexi's soccer game. By the time we were home, I was exhausted! I made a quick dinner of soup and toast and sliced watermelon and then went into my room to watch a little TV. Rylee comes into my room in 15 minutes later, dressed in her robe and said -- "Did you forget to pay the bills??" I laugh, and say "Why?" She says she's been downstairs trying to get in the shower, but there's no hot water. WHAT!!? Of course, Jeff is working late at the jail so it's up to me to get things figured out! I check the pilot light and it's out - but I don't dare light it (I don't want to blow up - I'll wait for Jeff to get home) But - Lexi is sweaty from soccer and Ry and Kam still need to shower - so I start putting water in big bowls and then in the microwave so we can at least wash hair and get wet enough to get soapy and then rinse off - ANOTHER PAIN! But we're clean, right??
Jeff got home around 10:30 - tried to light the pilot light, but NO LUCK! Our little water heater is 14 years old and I don't really want to wait until this one blows up and wrecks my house! It's decided that it's time for a new one - I'm hoping a tank less one - but we'll have to check on prices some time today - after a funeral, work, another work, picking kids up from school and more soccer games!
So, today I will be calling around to see who can... #1 - get here TODAY and #2 - Install a new water heater for a relatively reasonable price and get my hot water back!! :)
Oh yeah, and I'm hosting our ward "recipe club" tonight - hooray for me!

Ugh! What a pain. We are always so busy and then when things out of the ordinary occur it is so exhausting. I feel for you. Hope all turns out well for you.
What a fun few days you've had.
I feel your pain - our water heater busted in our old house and ruined floors, walls, etc.
Upon inspection of the new house our inspector said the water heater was old (13 yrs) and on it's way out quickly. We looked into heaters and eventually settled on a tankless - we love it!
They are not cheap but our gas bill has gone done to as low as $5 one month but we tend to hover most months at around $15 I think. WIthout the pilot light being on continuously we are saving some money.
Good Luck with everything!
We also installed a tankless in our last house. I wasn't as happy with it, but we didn't have gas to the house, so it was an electric one. They are not known to work as well. Our utility bill did go down substantially though and it was nice to always have hot water! I don't know if it is the same with gas tankless ones, but ours worked great with one shower going at a time; the flow slowed down substantially when you had two people showering in different bathrooms or the laundry and the shower going, etc.
Hope you get your hot water back quickly. Moments like this help us to appreciate those "small" things that we take for granted everyday.
Um, YUCK!
P.S...
Reading your schedule makes ME tired. Take a break, lady!!
WOW, and I thought I was stressed this week. I hope you can get everything worked out. I don't know how you do it all you are a superwoman.
