Tonight we had a camp meeting to discuss the camp theme for next year and make some ward assignments. Our theme is "The Olympics" and each ward will represent a different country. We are asking each ward to learn the
YW theme and "I Am A Child Of God" in their country's language.

We are planning a water day where the girls will get to participate in some "
Olympic events" in a canoe and also try some repelling. We are tying this theme into certification by having the girls lash a "bobsled" and race across the finish line with the bobsled carrying their
YW president. We will choose our meals from popular recipes from each country and we will decorate our cabins and lodge with flags and decorations from each country.

We would also like each ward to have the girls make pins that they can trade with girls in other wards. The Stake
YW presidency and the Stake Camp Board will be the "S.O.C" or the Stake Olympic
Committee. The Stake leaders are going to have black sweatshirts with 7 rings embroidered on them (one in each value color). Doesn't it sound like fun?!? We are excited and the planning is really in the beginning stages, but I'm
putting this on my blog to see if any of you have any ideas that we could
incorporate. Any Olympic events that you think we could "
tweak" for camp? We have 10 wards and about 250 girls and leaders will be participating.

I have been to TONS of different web sites about the Olympics and read through some ideas from other Stakes that have already done this theme, but nothing really jumped out at me. I want camp this year to go above and beyond
every one's expectations. I want this year to be the year that the girls and leaders will remember - one that we can build from and just keep making them bigger and better! So start your posting and let me know what your favorite
Olympic events are...my two favorite are the half pike (snowboarding) and the figure skating but I haven't been able to figure out how to
incorporate them for our camp! Come on all you creative people...help me out!

For skating, you could do a barefoot "skating" on a large tarp covered with dish soap and a little water.
That's a great idea...I will pass it on to the camp committee! Any ideas for the half pike?
Ok, Jodi, your blog is different everytime I check in! Stop being such a busy bee! It's not helping my self-esteem any! ;)
I will have to think about your Olympic sized quest and get back to you. What a fun idea. I want to be a Young Woman in your Stake!
(Go Brazil!)
I am changing my blog colors so often because my kids will be over my shoulder and want to try some new color or layout. I told them this was it and they couldn't do it again for at least 30 days!
Can I come? It sounds like a blast. I'll be thinking about the half pike thing.
