I heard on the radio this morning that 90% of american's have already failed at their New Years resolutions. In years past, I have been one of the 90% - failing to do the thing (or things) that I feel will make me a better person. But not this year. Not me! I know myself too well - and that's why this year, I set only one goal. I also "asked" my family to make this one goal too. (Really I planned a whole family home evening lesson around it and didn't give them much of a choice - isn't that what good mom's do??) Our goal for 2010 is to use our time wisely. That's it! No big list - just to use our time wisely. It really encompasses a lot though - let me tell you how. Yesterday, I came home from work and started to get dinner ready. I went downstairs to grab something out of the storage room and saw one of my childern sitting on the couch watching TV. I stopped and asked "Is that using your time wisely?" She immediately turned off the t.v and went to her bedroom to start her homework. Then again last night, Brad was doing some math assignments on the computer and when I walked past, I noticed that instead of Math 1050, it was his facebook page. I asked one simple question..."is that using your time wisely?" and the computer screen went back to fractions and decimals. I have also used "the" sentance when my kids play around in the kitchen instead of loading the dishwasher, when my kids have been texting instead of cleaning their rooms, etc.. It's like magic!! It's been nice to have everyone focused on one simple goal that pertains to every area of life...one simple phrase that reminds us to do what my favorite quote says:
"Do what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, with a cheerful heart" ~ Marjorie Pay Hinckley

Wow...what a wonderful goal...something I should really work on!
Excellent idea. That is one if my goals too. I say that as lay in bed with a movie on (it doesn't count when you are sick though so I don't feel guilty.)
:) Good idea!
You just reminded me I need to get off of the computer and get dinner and laundry done, Thanks for the boost! :) (Great idea by the way)
What a good goal! Good for you! That is awesome!
That is such a great goal. I will have to try that here at our house. I know we could all use it.
