Wilson get-well clinic

Last night we went roller skating for Family Night - usually a fun activity. We had been there for less than 20 minutes when I look over and Rylee is on the ground crying with about 5 or 6 people hovered over her. I skate over and see them taking off her skate to reveal a swollen ankle. She had been pushed by someone and tried to keep her balance then she heard a snap and couldn't put any pressure on it. So...I call the on call pediatrician and they say to come right in and have it x-rayed. We load in the car and head to the hospital. About an hour later, we were having an x-ray taken and they say it's not broken, just a bad sprain. Good news...except that she has a clogging competition at Thanksgiving Point on Friday. We asked the Dr. if there was any way that she would be able to dance on Friday and he was very reassuring. She is to keep it elevated, wear a wrap and only walk on it if she wears an air cast and keep plenty of Ibuprofen in her system to help keep the swelling down. This is what today has been like for her...
She's been doing a lot of reading and watching T.V. but she is already BORED!!

We are hoping to ice it and keep it elevated for the rest of this week so that she can compete on Friday!

This wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't had this to deal with all weekend...

Coleman came out of school last Friday complaining of a headache. I felt his head and he had a fever. I brought him home and took his temperature...102.7. So I give him some liquid Advil and he fell right to sleep. He gets feeling much better and actually has a lot of energy when the Advil kicks in, but when it wears off he is so lethargic and his fever shoots right back up. I got worried and made an appointment to have him checked out because he had been like that for 4 days. The Dr. took a strep test and it came up negative - of course! But he says he almost 100% sure that it is strep so he is sending the culture to the lab. The Dr. also said that there is a possibility that it is mononucleosis - GREAT!! Because we don't know what it is exactly until the lab results come back, we were told to keep him home from school. He was thrilled!! We started him on antibiotics and he is doing much better today...hopefully the results will be back by Thursday and he can go back to school!

So if you have any good DVD's to watch or any good books to read, we are open to suggestions! It looks like we have a few days left in the Wilson get-well clinic!

Sad! We have no movies or books or I would be right over with some aid. Good luck.

When it rains it pours. . .I hope they are both doing better. That's cool that Rylee is still clogging.

I am reading The Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo, and I just finished Life of Pi (can't remember the auther). Life of Pi was a little hard to get started, but once it started moving I couldn't put it down and found myself wishing there were more pages.

Alaina was sick over the weekend and she and I watched Flipper with Paul Hogan and Elijah Wood. It was fun and cute. And I found myself discovering more parts that I really liked with each of the many viewings we had while she recouperated.

Hope your ankle heals well Rylee. Good luck!

We have Madagascar 1 & 2 and the penguins if you want to steal those :) There's also a movie called Nexxt that is AWESOME with Nicholas Cage in it.

Poor kids! Maybe they can keep each other company! In the meantime, are you having to miss work too? I hate it when my kids are sick because they feel so miserable.

On a positive note, I love your black & white photos. I hope Rylee's ankle gets better. We have alot of books on CD such as the Fablehaven series, Harry Potter, and Narnia if you are interested in listening to some good books.

Hope everyone is doing better soon. We got a new game for Christmas called Ticket to Ride if you need another thing to fill the time.

Sorry to hear that all is not well at the Wilson household. We hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Here are some of our favorite movies (the ones I can think of anyway - my mind goes a little more each year)

Newsies - love this show!
National Treasure
all Harry Potter
Horton Hears a Who - we just saw this for the first time and thought it was cute.

I can't think of any other shows at the moment. I hope you find something to keep the troops entertained.

If she wants a great read and likes fantasy, tell her to read "City of Bones" by Cassandra Clare. Family favorite!
