I got to pull the 5 foot tall weeds from our rental property! How lucky am I? Our renters moved out and left the home and the yard in a terrible mess. I spent about 4 hours cleaning up the inside of the house on Thursday...this included hauling out 4 large trash bags of old mail, clothes, toys, hair dryers, pots, pans, toasters and A LOT of old, gross food from the fridge. Then on to washing out all of the kitchen cupboards, cleaning the bathroom and wiping down all of the walls & light switches. After vacuuming the carpet twice, it was time to get back to my kids. I was a little bit discouraged leaving with so much more to do, but I knew that I could return on Saturday with my small "army" of 5 to conquer the weeds and shampoo the carpet. I completely over-estimated how much work my small army could actually handle and we left with only a small portion of the weeds pulled. Now I am REALLY discouraged because at this rate, I won't be finished pulling weeds until late October! We did manage to pull the "more important" weeds first, like the ones directly in front of the front porch and around the driveway. It was a definite improvement and I am very grateful for my little helpers and their willingness to get out of bed early and spend their Saturday 70 miles away from their friends. On our drive home, I was thinking about how great it was going to be when I was sitting in a hot bubble bath reading a good book. I was looking forward to getting in some fresh, clean pajamas and going to bed early. Then my mom called my cell phone and reminded me that there were 6 bushels of peaches at her house waiting for me to come bottle them. My bubble bath would have to wait and I would definitely NOT be going to bed early...maybe in late October!

So, did the renters get their full deposit back?
Fun! I wish I could have joined you in your Saturday safari adventure, but alas, I was getting a head start on said peaches. Can't wait to see the afters!
