$3.92 can buy happiness. We bought 2 kites and at the dollar store ($2.00) and took the kites to the park. I am ashamed to admit this, but this is the first time that my two youngest kids have ever owned kites. They hadn't experienced the thrill of running as fast and as hard as their little legs could go, throwing their kite in the air, watching their kite soar higher and higher, letting out every last inch of string, staring up at the sky, squinting to see just how high it can go. But today, all of that changed.
Lexi trying to get her kite in the air
She did it.
There was another family at the park flying kites and two kite strings got a little tangled. Lexi's kite came crashing down. By the time I got over to her, her string looked like this
I got some of it straightened out but ended up breaking the string on either end of the knot and tying it back together to save what was left of my patience.
She had it up in the air again in no time!
Coleman had his kite flying high as soon as we got to the park
He had a lot of fun running and twirling and making his kite "dance"
Rylee enjoyed the park face down in the grass, taking a much needed nap
(She's going to kill me for posting this - but I couldn't resist!)
It was a perfect day to fly kites!
After we were through, we headed to Macey's for some ice cream cones - that was another $1.92. We sat in the booth at the back and talked about our day. I listened to stories about who sits next to who because they got a new seating arrangement, playing football at recess and high school "boy" drama.
It was well worth the $3.92!
