I want my kids last few days of summer to be fun, so I'm trying to fill my days with fun, cheap activities so that I can send them back to school with a clean conscience - I want them to have happy memories! Money has been tight for our little family this summer and we have had to be creative when it comes to summer fun. At the beginning of the summer, I started "Make-It Mondays" with some Aunts and cousins. We get together every Monday and do a fun craft or activity and take turns planning and hosting. The kids looked forward to the beginning of every week and were always quick to get their chores done and get ready to go. We made home made scented playdough, ice cream in baggies, spray painted tie dye t-shirts, homemade churros, we went geo-chaching, to the Kennecot copper mine, and we had a fun water day. We also threw in a couple of "Movie Monday's" and went to see "How to Train Your Dragon" and"Shrek 4" at the Dollar Theater. It was fun to have something on your calendar that you could look forward to. Our "Make It Monday's" are over, but there are still a few days left before the kids have to go back to school - so I have been on the hunt for things I can do at home or cheap activites close to home to fill our last few days.
I found a fun website...
Ming Makes Cupcakes. I want to make these! We now have 3 "cupcake" days on our calendar!
We're also going to try to make it to
Thanksgiving Point for their $2.00 Tuesdays and try to hit the
Pool for a day of fun in the water!!
It's going to be a week of food and FUN!

If you want any company - call me! I'm dying to get these kids out to some fun places, but it's always easier when there are a few extra pairs of eyes!
That pool looks AWESOME...didn't see THAT coming from Payson :)
And, as for the cupcakes, let me just say YUM!!!
What a fun idea! I love the make-it Mondays....too bad I don't live near family. We pretty much live at our pool all summer long. I think the pool membership is the best investment I make in the summer since that is the only place my kids ever want to go in this humidity! Hope things are going well for you.
